It seems ’80s icon Corey Feldman’s star is on the rise once again, but maybe not for the best reason. The actor-turned-musician has gone viral following an inexplicable and bizarre performance on the US Today Show, and now things are getting messy. Well, messier.
ICYMI (because you weren’t born yet): Feldman was hot property back in the late 80s, starring in such iconic flicks as Stand By Me, The Lost Boys and The Goonies:
Classic. But C-Feld quickly became a cautionary tale of the perils of child stardom, with his career tanking as he spiralled into a has-been adulthood plagued by addiction and drug abuse.
But in recent times, Feldman has cleaned up his act, and gone on to star in a variety of B, C and D-grade movies and reality TV shows like The Surreal Life, Dancing On Ice and Celebrity Wife Swap.
And he’s also used his newfound sobriety to polish off a new solo album dubbed Angelic 2 The Core, a star-studded double LP that features one disc of pop tunes (Angelic Funkadelic) and another disc of rock tunes (Angelic Rockadelic) and is packing high-profile collabs from the likes of Limp Bizkit’s Fred Durst, Snoop Dogg, Doc Ice (Whodini/UTFO), Kurupt, Kaya Jones (Pussycat Dolls), R1ckone and POET (Black Eyed Peas) Scott Page (Pink Floyd) and more.
Here is the amazing cover art:
Anyway, public interest in the album and Corey Feldman himself has now hit a critical mass after the former child star performed one of the album’s singles, Go 4 It, live on the US version of The Today Show.
The oddball performance featured Feldman donning a grim reaper outfit and busting out some Michael Jackson-inspired dance moves (which FYI he’s always done; MJ was his close personal friend and a huge inspiration on him while he was growing up) backed by his band of scantily clad “angels”:
And here’s where it gets even weirder: those girls in the backing band are actually part of a business venture that Feldman calls “Corey’s Angels”, which on the surface appears to be a whole lot like his own version of Hugh Hefner’s Playboy Bunnies.
The Angels are his “girlfriends” who live with him at his home AKA “The Feldmansion” where no males who aren’t “invited guests” are allowed to set foot. The girls have all signed a contract that prohibits them from eating meat, drinking alcohol, wearing jeans, or gaining weight and commits them to be “coachable” and “teachable”:

Feldman has billed Corey’s Angels as an organisation that helps “lost girls” on a mission to better themselves by finding their footing in the entertainment industry. However, a truly disturbing profile on an episode of Celebrity Wife Swap earlier this year caused many to draw the conclusion that Feldman was actually running an all-girl sex cult and had in fact gone absolutely batshit crazy.
This impression was not helped by his performance on The Today Show, which copped some seriously viral backlash:

Many even questioned whether Corey’s bonkers performance – and seemingly new identity as a curious cross between Charles Manson, Hugh Hefner, Charlie Sheen and MJ – was all just one big troll; an ingeniously conceived recipe for overnight internet stardom.
But now, it seems, that’s not the case.
In a since-deleted Facebook Live post, Feldman reportedly sobbed alongside his “maingel” Courtney Anne, revealing that the aftermath of the performance has been “really painful” and that Corey has never had “such mean things” said about him.
As Inquisitr reports, Feldman broke down in tears as he addressed his fans, saying that he and his Angels “tried really hard,” to give fans the best show they could:
“It was a song, okay? It wasn’t that weird. I’m sorry if it’s not good enough for you, but you don’t have to beat us up. I just want to say that, like, why is it okay to, like, publicly shame us? … We deserve love and we deserve, like, normal life … It’s not okay, it’s not acceptable to call us freaks, weirdoes, losers, whatever.”
Feldman also revealed that he was afraid to leave his home for fear of the backlash over his performance.
“We can’t get out of bed right now,” he said. “We’re petrified to even go out … And I’m sorry, but we just wanted the world to know, like, we’re really freaked out over this and it’s really not fair.”
But plenty of celebs have come out in support of Corey, including his Goonies costar Sean Astin, his Stand By Me costar Jerry O’Connell and popstar P!nk:
