Prepare your underpants because a gruesome AF new horror-themed play is headed down under to scare the sh*t out of Aussie audiences in 2018.
Dubbed simply HORROR (at least you can’t accuse it of false advertising), the blood-soaked Swedish production tells the story of a woman who returns to her childhood home with her two mates, only to be terrified by the vengeful spirit of her deceased older sister and haunted by terrible family secrets.
Described as a “breathtaking nightmare onstage” from the warped mind of renowned physical theatre maker Jakop Ahlbom, HORROR has been frothed over by international critics for its insane special effects and spine-chilling nods to horror classics like The Exorcist, The Shining and The Ring.
It’s set to begin its Aussie season at the Sydney Opera House in late August before heading to Wollongong, Canberra, Melbourne and Brisbane.
“Not one for the faint hearted, HORROR is the most extreme yet thrilling piece of physical theatre that I have ever witnessed,” says Sydney Opera House Head of Contemporary Performance, Olivia Ansell (via Sydney Arts Guide).
“With all the suspense and gruesome effects usually reserved for horror films, this cutting-edge live stage experience is guaranteed to make… audiences jump out of their seats. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!”
