Watch Soccer Mommy Perform The First NPR Tiny Desk Concert From Home

Many of us have begun working from home for the foreseeable future due to coronavirus, and the NPR Tiny Desk series is no exception. No longer able to house artists in their office space, they’ve instead introduced Tiny Desk (Home) Concerts, bringing the same stripped-down sets and intimate settings that make the series so special, without the IRL closeness that’s no longer safe at the moment.

To kick off the series, Soccer Mommy performed from her home in Nashville. The musician – aka Sophie Allison – was set to perform a Tiny Desk on Monday, 30th March.

“Now the world has changed, and with the coronavirus keeping us at a distance, we’re taking a break from filming Tiny Desks at the office for a while,” confirmed NPR’s Bob Boilen.

Soccer Mommy performed a trio of highlights from latest album Color Theory, which arrived last month, playing ‘Bloodstream’, ‘Circle the Drain’ and ‘Royal Screw Up’.

In between songs, she explained what she’s been up to while self-isolating; writing and recording new music and playing video games – Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing and Pokémon in particular.

NPR say there’ll be more Tiny Desk (Home) concerts over the coming months, so keep your eyes and ears peeled.
