Crowded House Share Lockdown Performance Of ‘Something So Strong’

As they point out, Crowded House were “supposed to be on stages very soon” in Europe and elsewhere. However, they’ve since have had to accept “the new reality”, as the coronavirus pandemic continues to cast doubt over when global touring will recommence.

In lieu, the band have begun sharing lockdown sessions which see each member recording from their respective homes. Over the weekend, they shared a split-screen performance of ‘Something So Strong’, taken from their lauded 1986 self-titled debut.

“However housebound, we are still seeking connection,” wrote the band in a caption accompanying the video.

“So, in the meantime, the internet provides a chance to play a few of our songs for you, that seems most welcome and joyous, a good way to rehearse and perform, send some best wishes out your way.”

Last month, Crowded House were one of many Aussie and New Zealand acts that performed as part of the Music from the Home Front ANZAC Day concert, which paid tribute to the ANZACs along with those on the frontlines battling the coronavirus pandemic. The band played a similarly distanced rendition of ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’ from their respective houses, while DMA’S delivered a powerhouse cover of ‘Better Be Home Soon’.
