Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus Will Take A Cancer Test This Week That “May Very Well Determine If He Lives or Dies”

Blink-182 hero Mark Hoppus has given us a frank update on his health battle following his cancer diagnosis.

“Apologies if I’m oversharing but it’s so surreal to think that this week I’ll take a test that may very well determine if I live or die,” he wrote on Twitter.

Despite the heavy news, he also added optimistically: “I’m going to beat this through chemotherapy or through bone marrow transplants, but either way I’m determined to kick cancer’s ass directly in the nuts. Love to you all. Let’s. Heckin. Go.”

Hoppus has yet to fill us in on what type of cancer he is battling, however he did share a CT scan showing a tumor in his shoulder area, which suggests he may be suffering from lymphoma.

Two weeks ago, Hoppus said his chemotherapy was going “good, I hope”.

“I mean, it’s making me sick. I will say though, that this round of chemo I feel better than I have before. The only thing is that this round I’ve been more nauseous, which I don’t like.”

“On good days, I go do stuff,” he said.

He then went on to explain that he can’t do too much at the moment, due to his weakened immune system.

“I can’t go anywhere right now. I wanted to go to the Dodgers last night. I can’t. I want to go hang out with friends and go to a restaurant. I can’t.

“My white blood cell count is way too low for me to go out, so I am stuck trying to get better. That’s alright, I’ll take it.

“I still have months of treatment ahead of me but I’m trying to remain hopeful and positive”.

Hoppus’s most recent album with Blink-182 was 2019’s Nine. He released two EPs with Simple Creatures – Strange Love and Everything Opposite – the same year. Last year, Blink also shared the standalone single ‘Quarantine’.
