Well, here’s something to make you feel the relentless passage of time: Bootleg Rascal’s debut album Asleep In The Machine is officially 10 years old.
To celebrate, the Gold Coast genre-benders have unleashed a new 10th anniversary deluxe edition of their career-defining debut, while expanding their accompanying Australian tour with a bunch of new dates due to demand.
Bootleg Rascal – ‘I’d Do Anything’
Originally released a decade ago, Asleep In The Machine helped establish Bootleg Rascal’s signature melting pot of indie-rock, hip-hop, electronica and dub, with its tracks clocking up more than 35 million streams across Spotify and Apple Music.
The era also saw the band perform the album’s title track for triple j’s Like A Version, while setting the wheels in motion for a decade of extensive touring both at home and overseas.
Now, they’ve cracked open the vault for the album’s birthday.
Alongside the original record’s 12 tracks, the newly released deluxe edition features Spanish-language versions of ‘Drop The Gun’ and ‘Bones N Bricks’, an acoustic rendition of ‘Asleep In The Machine’ and ‘I’d Do Anything’ – a track previously confined to a vinyl compilation and now receiving its first-ever digital release.
The celebrations will also continue onstage, with Bootleg Rascal adding four new Aussie shows to their previously announced anniversary run due to demand.
The full Aussie trek now clocks in at 14 dates, kicking off in Byron Bay this September before visiting Fremantle, Margaret River, Bunbury, Sydney, Wollongong, Brisbane, Darwin, Hobart, Melbourne, the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Aldinga and Adelaide.
The duo will be dipping into Asleep In The Machine across the shows alongside material from their 2025 self-titled fourth album and favourites from throughout their catalogue.
Bootleg Rascal will then take the anniversary celebrations across the ditch in December for a run of New Zealand dates.
