Apparently Disney+ Are Rebooting Mighty Ducks & We’re Equal Parts Psyched & Terrified

Okay so, Disney+ are apparently rebooting Mighty Ducks — the legendary 1992 film — but it won’t be quite the same as the original.

The new series is set to follow a 13 year-old boy and his mum. The boy gets booted from the Mighty Ducks team and so his mum helps him put together a new team, coach, and practice rink.

It sounds scarily far away from the original storyline and, look, I’m nervous. The Mighty Ducks? Kicking a kid off of their team? I don’t buy it. But anyway.

Filming is scheduled to start in February 2020 in Vancouver before it’s available on Disney’s new streaming service, Disney+.

Original screenwriter, Steven Brill will be joining Josh Goldsmith, Cathy Yuspa, George Heller, and Brad Petrigala as executive producers for the new Mighty Ducks series.

Rumours of a ‘D4: The Mighty Ducks’ or a remake have had our hopes up before, but it looks like Disney are set on this new direction.

Fans are not okay either.

Disney+ is set to launch next Tuesday, 12th November. The original Mighty Ducks won’t be available for streaming though.

There are a bunch of nostalgia-soaked shows and movies coming when Disney+ launches next week. Recess, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, Lizzie McGuire(!!!!!) are just a few of the actual thousands of gems available.
