The First Trailer For ‘Dune’ Features Timothée Chalamet, A Giant Sandworm And Much More

The first trailer for the big budget film adaptation of Frank Herbert’s epic, 1965 sci-fi novel Dune has arrived, and it features star Timothée Chalamet, a cover of Pink Floyd‘s ‘Eclipse’ from composer Hans Zimmer, a giant sandworm, and much more.

The forthcoming adaptation was directed by Denis Villeneuve, who, as you may recall, is responsible for 2017’s acclaimed Blade Runner 2049. The screenplay was written by Villeneuve alongside Jon Spaihts and Eric Roth.

Due to arrive later this year, Dune will see Chalamet play the film’s young hero Paul Atreides, as part of a truly star-studded ensemble cast that also includes the likes of Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Charlotte Rampling, Zendaya and Jason Momoa, among others.

If you’re unfamiliar with the original novel’s plot, Dune revolves around Paul and his family moving to the desert planet Arrakis, the sole source of the valuable drug melange (aka “the spice”), which grants its users longer life, heightened awareness and interstellar travel.

After a betrayal at the hands of the rival House Harkonnen, Paul comes into contact with Arrakis’ natives, the Fremen, and forms a connection with them. There’s a lot more to it – so much so, in fact, that the film will only cover roughly the first half of the original novel.
