PREMIERE: ‘Don’t Complicate It’, Say Sydney Trio Mesmeriser On Their Dynamic New Single

Sydney trio Mesmeriser have been bloody busy boys! 2018 saw them put out their gorgeously effortless track ‘Hello Sunday Morning’, the perfect track to sip your morning cuppa to. They then played a couple of shows around town before jetting off to tour Europe for five months.

Today, they return with their first single of 2019, ‘Don’t Complicate It’, premiering via Music Feeds.

The track sees the trio working in tandem like a well-oiled machine, their dynamic as both friends and musicians on show. But the message on display throughout the track is what’s most important here. The track talks about emerging from your youth into a world where, really, everything’s been seen before.

“We were trying to deal with the fact that generations before us had ‘done and seen it all’ and people our age were becoming increasingly jaded from a multitude of factors (housing, climate change, etc.) It’s a call for young people to shed the weight of generations before them, be who they need to be and don’t complicate it,” the band said.

The process for the track was a fairly straightforward one, with each part coming together with ease.

“Myles will often come in with a riff that he’s been noodling with and see what the guys think. If it passes the rigorous and selective process of a head nod from the other guys, it’s on,” they said.

“‘Don’t Complicate It’ started with that simple ascending guitar riff, Sam added some spicy bass and Oscar brought it all together with the drums and production. After a couple of tempo and structural changes, what lay before us was the ‘Don’t Complicate It’ you hear today.”

To celebrate the single’s release, the band will be headed out on a three-date tour, hitting Newcastle, Melbourne and Sydney later next month.
