Over 170 Punters Arrested With Drugs At Field Day 2018

Police say they’re “disappointed” after more than 170 punters were caught with illegal drugs at Sydney’s Field Day festival on New Years Day.

Of the 26,000 who came to watch Flume, Vince Staples, ScHoolboy Q, George Maple and more rock The Domain on January 1st, 167 were arrested and charged with possessing prohibited drugs, while seven others were done for supplying commercial quantities of drugs.

A 22-year-old man is in the most trouble of all of them, after allegedly getting caught with a massive haul of 138 MDMA pills. He’s been charged with supplying prohibited drugs, dealing in proceeds of crime and resisting arrest, and been granted conditional bail to front court next month.

Five Field Day punters were also hospitalised for drug-related health issues, while one man has to undergo surgery after injuring his leg while attempting to illegally jump the fence into the event.

Interestingly enough, the drug arrests at Field Day 2018 were actually down from last year’s figures, which saw over 200 people collared with naughty substances.
