10 Australian music icons are to be inducted into The Age Music Victoria Hall Of Fame, including Aussie rockers AC/DC, singers John Farnham and Olivia Newton-John, and Melbourne’s beloved Palais Theatre.
The list of ten new inductees, which also includes Archie Roach, The Seekers and The Thunderbirds, will be celebrated at The Age Music Victoria’s 10th Anniversary Hall Of Fame concert event this November.
Launched in 2006, The Age Music Victoria Awards are the largest publicly voted music awards in Australia. That said, the 10 new 10th anniversary inductees were chosen by a voting panel including former inductees, musicians and music professionals. View the full list of 10 inductees, below.
Speaking on his band’s latest induction, AC/DC’s Angus Young says, “Victoria has a special place in our hearts, especially the early years of the band. Thank you for the induction into The Age Music Victoria Hall of Fame. It is an honour.”
AC/DC were inducted into the USA Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003, and had a Melbourne laneway named after them in 2004.
John Farnham says he is overjoyed to be inducted into The Age Music Victoria Hall Of Fame. “I am extremely proud to be on this list,” he says. “I am a proud Victorian, now I am even prouder.”
The Age Music Victoria’s 10th Anniversary Hall Of Fame concert event will take place at The Palais Theatre on Friday, 20th November, and will and feature performances from John Farnham, Archie Roach and more. View ticket details and the current performing lineup, below.
