Airbourne Chosen For WWE Theme Tune, New Song Available Via Twitter Game

It’s a big day for home-grown heroes Airbourne, who have begun pumping fans up for their soon-to-be-released album by offering a new tune as a free download, while WWE have announced that they’ll be pouncing on their previous single to use as the official WWE Extreme Rules theme song.

We’ll start with their new song, which will be featured on the band’s forthcoming album Black Dog Barking. Problem is we don’t know exactly which on it is. What we do know is that the Airbourne are going to make you work for it. The challenge is simple: if you can coerce frontman Joel O’Keeffe into climbing all the way to the top of the Download Festival stage, you’ll score yourself a free MP3.

You’ll need to tweet the band using the hashtage #airbourneclimb to move O’Keefe up the stage, with each message pushing Joel that little bit further up the scaffolding – time to get our spam on.

Already from the album we’ve heard first single Live It Up, the extreme energy of which has not gone unnoticed by the WWE, with the track now taking pride of place in the soundtrack to their Extreme Rules pay-per-view event. The annual bout promises hardcore wrestling style rules, which is sure to gel well with Airbourne’s rock ‘n’ roll image. The bout will take place Sunday, 19th May.

Later in the year, Airbourne will one of the bands representing Australia at the Golden Gods Awards having been nominated for Best New Band. Black Dog Barking, the third album from the band, will drop Friday, 17th May, with the band due to hit the road in support of the album soon after, including a cheeky stop-off in Byron Bay for Splendour In The Grass 2013.
