Aussies Acts Get Good Odds To Top triple j’s Hottest 100 2014

UPDATE: Triple J’s Hottest 100 is underway! Keep up to date with live updates and milestones here.

It’s still over a month until triple j‘s Hottest 100 of 2014 countdown takes place on Australia Day, but online bookmakers are already fuelling debate over which act will top the countdown this year. Melbourne producer Nick Murphy, aka Chet Faker, sits as favourite with his song Talk Is Cheap at the time of writing, followed closely behind by Canberra duo Peking Duk and their hit single High, according to Sportingbet.

If Talk Is Cheap takes top spot on this year’s Hottest 100, it will cap off a huge 2014 for Chet Faker, which has seen him win take home three ARIA Awards and the Australian Album of the Year J Award for his debut full-length, Built On Glass. View the 10 songs with the best odds to top triple j‘s Hottest 100 of 2014 in the gallery below.

Sportingbet originally had Sia’s runaway hit Chandelier sitting as favourite, but the song has dropped back to third, in front of Mark Ronson & Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk. Talk Is Cheap was originally seated fourth, with High originally seated third.

Last Australia Day, Vance Joy’s Riptide was bookies’ second favourite to win the Hottest 100 of 2013, but upset Lorde’s track Royals to take out the win. The song with the best odds in the history of the Hottest 100 was Gotye’s Somebody That I Used To Know, which took out the prize in 2012.

The positions of songs in the gallery and top acts list below are accurate as of the time of writing, and will continue to change as punters place bets. Voting for triple j‘s Hottest 100 of 2014 is now open at the triple j website.
