Big Day Out Second Lineup Announcement

The time Big Day Out 2014 ticket-holders and future fence-jumpers (don’t do it) have been waiting for has arrived. The second lineup announcement for Big Day Out brings with it a slew of exciting new acts including Primus and Vista Chino joining the likes of Pearl Jam, Blur, Arcade Fire, and many more.

BIG DAY OUT 2014 SIDESHOW DETAILS ROUND-UP!!!

It’s been a contentious year for one of Australia’s most beloved festivals, indeed it has been for the Australian festival market in general. Since the release of the first lineup in July, we’ve seen Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah buy into the company as well as talk of financial ruin.

Update: DIIV drop out of Big Day Out 2014 — full details here!

The aforementioned rumours rubbished by both BDO CEO Adam Zammit and Maddah, as well as several delays in the announcement of the second lineup, with Zammit originally claiming the second announcement would happen in September.

Back in July, BDO boss Ken West told FasterLouder that the second announcement would take the 2014 roster from 32 acts, up to 45, whilst stressing that punters shouldn’t expect any “massive” acts for the second announce. Indeed Maddah referred to it as a “supplementary announcement.”

West also told FL that the second announcement would “correct” the omission of heavier acts from the bill, saying, “I do know that it’s a little light on [the heavier] front, but some of the second announcement stuff will correct that.”

After Mutemath and Conor Oberst‘s Desaparecidos jumped ship from the axed Harvest lineup to Soundwave 2014, many eyes were focused on Primus on CSS to see where the fate of those acts lay.
