Black Sabbath’s 1972 Cocaine Budget Has Been Revealed & It Will Blow You Away

Written by Emmy Mack on October 22, 2015

You’ll never guess how much Black Sabbath blew on blow in 1972.

Put it this way… they would have snorted a young Pablo Escobar out of house and home (and probably several private zoos).

Turns out back in nineteen diggity, the heavy metal lords budgeted themselves a modest cocaine allowance of $75,000.

No wonder Ozzy Osbourne was a notoriously piss-licking, ant-snorting, bat-chewing loose canon. Old mate’s nose was stuffed with more snow than every Game Of Thrones forum on the internet right now.

The revelation came from bassist Geezer Butler himself, who confessed that the band spent more on nose candy than their entire 1972 album, Vol. 4, which cost the band just $65K to make.

As Metal Injection reports, the band would have the coke flown in by private plane and, after a certain point, Ozzy had no idea where the shit was even coming from.

In his autobiography, I Am Ozzy, The Prince Of Darkness stated:

Eventually we started to wonder where the fuck all the coke was coming from…I’m telling you: that coke was the whitest, purest, strongest stuff you could ever imagine. One sniff, and you were king of the universe.

And a recent report by Dangerous Minds has even calculated that, with inflation, Black Sabbath spent $426,934.81 on cocaine, to record Vol. 4.

Black Sabbath recently announced the Australian leg of their upcoming farewell tour, which is set to take place in April of 2016.

According to Tony Iommi, it’ll most definitely be Aussie fans’ last chance to catch the heavy metal godfathers live in concert. Check out their full list of Aussie tour dates, below.
