Did Brand New Just Use A T-Shirt To Announce They’ll Break Up In 2018?

New York rockers Brand New appear to have announced they will disband in 2018 — the only thing is they’ve done it two years in advance, and they’ve done it through some new t-shirt designs.

Yup.

Two new t-shirts, which both say the band’s existence ranges from the year 2000 to the year 2018, have appeared on the group’s online store today. Behold:

What’s more, the band even posted a photo of one of the shirts to Facebook, leaving fans flabbergasted. Here’s a taste of how they’re reacting online:

Brand New’s ‘2000 — 2018’ t-shirts come after frontman Jesse Lacey gave an emotional speech to fans at the band’s final show of 2015, where he said the group “isn’t gonna last much longer”.

Even before that, some fans finally received their copies of the lyric book for the band’s third album The Devil And God Are Raging Inside Me, which also featured the words “RIP 2018”.

Brand New are yet to publicly announce they are disbanding in 2018. Music Feeds has contacted the band for comment on the t-shirts, but it seems pretty clear that the designs weren’t typos.

Brand New released their latest new song I Am A Nightmare only two weeks ago. The band have a new studio album in the works, which will be their first album in seven years after 2009’s Daisy. The album is set for release later this year.
