Brandon Flowers Is Annoyed That People Don’t Challenge Kanye West’s “Genius”

Over the years Kanye West has done a solid job promoting himself as a genius, but The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers isn’t buying any of it.

Flowers has been openly critical of Yeezy in the past, and it seems that his opinion hasn’t changed in nearly a decade.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Flowers admitted to often putting his foot in his mouth when he was younger, and was reminded of the time he said Kanye West “makes me ill”.

“Yeah, that’s a tough one,” said Flowers. “Everyone’s afraid to say anything contrary to him being a genius. It’s crazy, man! And it’s frustrating. I’m not going to tear him down, but I will say I find that to be frustrating. [Laughs] That’s my stance on it.

“A lot of people might agree with me now. I may have been a little bit ahead of my time. But I think he wants to be good. I think he wants to be great, and that’s something that we all want to strive for. We’ve just got different roads of getting there, I guess.”

In the same interview Flowers also spoke about the future of The Killers. The frontman is about to release his sophomore solo record The Desired Effect but during the interview he was explicit that The Killers aren’t finished. He said that “everything is fine,” but added, “I think we need a little bit of a kick in the pants, and hopefully it’s coming.”

“I want to feel like we’re together,” he said. “That’s what I want, and that’s the goal, and that’s what we all want. I want us to get back to that place.” Read the full interview here.
