Cloud Nothings & Wavves Detail New Collaborative Album

Ohio indie outfit Cloud Nothings and San Diego surf rockers Wavves have announced further details of their forthcoming collaborative album, titled No Life For Me.

The announcement was made via Wavves’ Instagram account with a post that appears to show a bit of the album’s artwork, or at least the style of the artwork. The post reveals that all but one track on the collaborative album was co-written in collaboration by Wavves’ Nathan Williams and Cloud Nothings’ Dylan Baldi. Williams wrote the track titled Such a Drag by himself.

The post also says the album was recorded at home by “Sweet Valley” – a side project between Wavves’ Nathan Williams and his brother Kynan Williams – between March 16th and 26th last year.

Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij also contributed to the record, performing guitar on the song I Find, which also features keyboard by Joel Williams. Wavves members Stephen Pope and Brian Hill also played on the album.

News that a collaborative album between the bands was in the works was confirmed last year when Dylan Baldi commented that the record was “almost done!”. He also explained the origins of the project.

“I woke up one morning hungover in Paris, which is where I usually live, and I just had a text on my phone that was like, ‘Yo, wanna make a record together?’ I was like, ‘…Okay!’ And that was it. It sounded fun.”

No Life For Me is due out later this year via Ghost Ramp Records.
