Corey Taylor Says He’s Started Working On New Slipknot Songs With His “Most Autobiographical Lyrics In Years”

Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor has revealed that he’s started penning new music

In an interview with French publication Musik Universe, Taylor said that the new music the band have been working on is, “impressive”.

He’s received six songs from the rest of the band so far and he’s currently writing lyrics for three of them.

“It’s dark, very dark,” Taylor said.

“It’s actually, probably the most autobiographical lyrics I’ve written in years. I’ve been through a lot of obstacles in recent years and I’m writing about where I am now instead of writing about where I was. It’s very easy to go back to these things, impulsively, but now I’m writing from the point of view of a man who grew up and saw a lot.”

Previously Clown said that he might leave the band after the next album and Taylor also touched on that saying, “I would not do Slipknot without him.”

“He is the one who instituted the vision of the group and if he goes away everything collapses.”

Taylor has been touring with his other band Stone Sour off the back of their Hydrograd. Slipknot’s last album was 2014’s .5: The Gray Chapter and with the band still in demo-mode it may be a while until we get the next one.
