Crowded House are back and gearing up to play two very special ‘Encore’ shows at the Sydney Opera House.
It’s an encore because nearly 20 years ago Crowded House said goodbye to the world with an outdoor show on the steps of the Opera House.
Now they’re returning to the Opera House forecourt in November for two shows, their only shows worldwide for 2016.
It comes just as it’s been announced that Crowded House will be inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame this year, acknowledging a huge career which has seen them achieve five number one albums in the country and win 13 ARIA Awards.
Bassist Nick Seymour is raring and ready-to-go, looking particularly forward to, “a f*ck off sing song, an off-piste jam session, a toast to absent friends and NO RAIN.”
The band are also preparing to reissue all seven of their albums in all formats including vinyl. Each will be stacked with rarities, demoes and more unreleased material. There will also be new original artwork done by Seymour. They’re all due to be released on 4th November, just weeks before these Opera House shows.
“This has been many years in the making with much of the exhaustive listening, editing and remixing being done by the keeper of knowledge Jeremy Ansell in Auckland,” Neil Finn said of the reissues.
The ever-entertaining Kirin J. Callinan will be opening for the band on both nights.

UPDATE 26/09/16: After selling out the first two shows, Crowded House have announced a third show at the Sydney Opera House. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, 28th September at 9am.
