By this point, “Dave Grohl does wild/funny/epic shit onstage” is a category unto itself.

From the time “KISS guy” absolutely shredded the solo to ‘Monkey Wrench’ onstage, to the huge ‘My Hero’ singalong earlier thsi year in honour of the medic who treated his broken leg in 2015, Foo Fighters live shows have an interactive element that tends to bring out some truly joyous moments.

Well, he’s done it again, bringing a Santa hat-clad fan onstage to smash a beer during the Foo Fighters’ headlining set at Intersect Music Festival in Las Vegas.

“Let’s hear it for Santa Claus! I love you Santa. Good thing that was a light beer,” Grohl says after shotgunning the beer, giving the man a hug and wiping his face with the man’s Santa hat. The band then launched into the 1996 self-titled album cut ‘Big Me’.

Watch some fan-shot footage of the moment below.

Back in September, Grohl told fans during Foo Fighters’ headlining set at Brazil’s Rock in Rio that the band were planning to begin work on the follow-up to 2017 album Concrete and Gold. “We go home next week and we start making a new Foo Fighters record,” Grohl told the crowd.
