Devil You Know Back Crowdfunded Mini Festival To Replace Soundwave

Metalcore supergroup Devil You Know are backing a plan to crowdfund a mini festival to replace Soundwave after the festival’s cancellation last night.

Drummer John Sankey has said that he has put together a production team and is looking at potential venues in Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, with the launch of a Kickstarter to fund the event also planned.

“I’ve been mates with AJ for a really long time and we were devastated to hear the news about Soundwave being cancelled” Sankey told TheMusic.

“He did such an awesome job with it all and turned it into one of the last places that Aussies could go to hear great, international and local metal bands. We were planning on coming to Australia, so why not round up the guys and figure out a way to come down anyway?”

While details are still hazy at best (it being less than 24hrs since the festival was officially called off) the festival does already have a name, with Facebook and Twitter pages already up and running for Legion Music Fest. John Howarth of Riot! Entertainment has also already expressed interest in getting on board.

Tweeting that he wants to “bring my 4 bands together” for a “four prong tour”, if it goes ahead we could be seeing some of Soundwave’s heaviest hitters Hatebreed, Metal Allegiance and Soulfly all joining Devil You Know at Legion.

Finger crossed this happens.
