EXCLUSIVE: Angus & Julia Stone Stream New Song ‘Death Defying Acts’

Angus & Julia Stone have unveiled Death Defying Acts, a cut from their highly anticipated self-titled comeback album. Angus & Julia Stone, the acclaimed pair’s first album since 2010’s beloved Down the Way, is slated to drop Friday, 1st August and is available for fans to pre-order via iTunes now.

Last month, Angus and Julia unveiled the smooth, groove-laden, Rick Rubin-produced Heart Beats Slow as the album’s first official single. Album track Death Defying Acts is the latest taste of the acclaimed brother-sister songwriting pair’s long-awaited return to the Aussie music scene as a duo.

“We had no intention of getting back together,” Julia told Music Feeds. “At all.” According to her, “We really felt that we’d done our time together and it was time for a change. We both felt really inspired to be apart and have that space, it was really fun… Then we got an email from Rick.”

Still apprehensive, Julia attended one of Angus’ solo performances. “I felt really amazed by Angus. He’s such a special creature and I love him so much. We joined to sing these old songs, songs we hadn’t sung in a few years, and we got off stage and were like, ‘Let’s do this, let’s make a record!’”

The record the two went on to make is now one of the most highly anticipated releases of the year. Death Defying Acts, which readers can check out below, marks a new progression in the duo’s sound. The only way to get your hands on it is to get Angus & Julia Stone’s self-titled new album.
