Falls Festival Tickets Are Already On Resale Sites For Thousands Of Dollars

Falls Festival tickets are already being advertised at highly inflated prices on ticket resale sites, after passes to the Byron Bay and Lorne legs of this year’s festival sold out in record time this morning.

Music Feeds has spotted four-day passes to the Lorne leg of Falls being advertised for over $5,600 each on controversial Swiss-based site Viagogo (including access to the camping grounds). The tickets were originally sold by Falls Festival for $355 each, with an extra $108 each for access to the camping grounds.

Individual tickets for access to the Lorne camping grounds are also going for as much as $2,100 a piece on Viagogo right now.

Meanwhile, three-day tickets (with camping access) in Byron Bay are being advertised for as much as $3,000 each. They were originally sold for $314, with an extra $118 for camping access.

Things aren’t much better over on Ticketmaster Resale, where those four-day Lorne tickets have been advertised for up to $1725.00 a piece, and that’s excluding the price of a ticket to the camping grounds, which is going for $688.85 (originally $108).

Tickets are also being advertised on Gumtree and eBay at inflated prices, leading Falls Festival organisers to warn ticket-buyers of potential dangers.

In a statement to Music Feeds, Falls Festival organisers say:

“Falls Lorne and Byron sold out in record time this year. There is no official resale facility for The Falls Festival, with increasing demand we are investigating the viability of introducing one. Till then, we strongly discourage patrons purchasing from any unauthorized third party sellers at inflated prices, we can’t guarantee legitimacy of tickets purchased outside the Falls official platform.

“No tickets for Falls are issued until December 1st, we will be scanning all tickets on arrival and you will not be granted entrance if the barcode has already been scanned. If you’re buying from a trusted friend for the face value price of the ticket that is fine. Supply and demand drives this market, and it’s legal. The law permits them to do so. We wish people wouldn’t resell tickets for profit, but at the moment, there isn’t any legal recourse to prevent this.”

Viagogo is soon set to face Federal Court in Australia, after being accused of ripping off Aussie concert-goers with deceptive and misleading conduct.
