Fans “Fuming” After Download Festival Australia Rules Out Melbourne Sideshows

Organisers of the first-ever Australian edition of Download Festival have angered some Melbourne music fans, after confirming that “no sideshows will be announced for Melbourne” around the festival’s upcoming Aussie debut.

Announcing their first bunch of official sideshows this morning, Download Festival Australia promoters Live Nation, Unified and Secret Sounds ruled out any Melbourne sideshows being announced, while plotting headline shows in other cities for the likes of NOFX, Prophets Of Rage and Good Charlotte.

While Download is set to make its Aussie debut in Melbourne in March, some local music enthusiasts weren’t too happy about the lack of headline love in their city, and they took to social media to have their voices heard…

Meanwhile, others thought Melbourne had already copped enough good news, considering that it gets to host the first-ever Aussie edition of Download…

More Download Festival sideshows are expected to be announced next week, including shows from Swedish melodic death metal Arch Enemy, and there’s still a slight chance that some Download bands may announce Melbourne sideshows through external promoters, but it’s unlikely.

Unfortunately, Download headliners Korn won’t be announcing any sideshows in any cities, as they are exclusive to the festival.
