Fear Factory Dish On New Album ‘Genexus’

Fear Factory have released the tracklist and cover art for their forthcoming ninth studio album and given away a few hints on what to expect.

The album is due out on 7th August and is called Genexus which “describes the next transition in human evolution as man moves forward to a ‘mechanical’ state of being,” according to vocalist Burton C. Bell.

“Genexus is the term for that next evolutionary process. Where humans are machines, machines are human, and the differences are oblivious to the naked eye,” Bell further explained in a press release.

It’s their first since 2012’s The Industrialist and guitarist Dino Cazares described it as “a very special Fear Factory album.”

“While being careful not to replicate ourselves, this album still has a very classic Fear Factory vibe that we feel will appease both old and new fans. The aggressive, melodic and industrial elements are all intact and shine more than ever.”

The record was co-produced by Bell, Cazares and frequent collaborator Rhys Fulber. Bell and Cazares are the only remaining original members in the band after original drummer Raymond Herrera left in 2009. Malignancy’s Mike Heller played drums on Genexus.

The band was in the country earlier this year for Soundwave. Cazares also impressed when he unexpectedly took to the stage with Exodus at Sydney’s rock n’ roll dive bar Frankie’s Pizza By The Slice.

Here’s hoping there’s another Australian tour lined-up now they have a new album under their belts.
