Flea Doesn’t Care If You Didn’t Like His Version Of The US National Anthem

Last Wednesday saw legendary LA Lakers basketball player Kobe Bryant wrap up a decorated career with a signature 60-point game.

Before the game, Red Hot Chili Peppers‘ iconic bass player Flea performed a whimsical and carefree version of the US National Anthem. Reactions towards the performance were mixed, with the performance described as everything from “fucking awesome” to “awful”.

Now Flea has responded to the haters, telling TMZ that the criticism hasn’t gotten to him at all.

“I don’t care man. I know that people who liked music liked it,” he said. “I thought it was beautiful. I don’t really have any concern for little small minds that get frustrated when they get blown. I like a big mind!”

The Aussie-born muso even declared that if Bryant ever wanted to learn bass in his post-playing years, that he would be available as a teacher. “If he wanted a guitar lesson I wouldn’t be the guy but if we ever wanted a bass lesson I’d be happy to teach him”.
