For Today Guitarist Angers Fans With Homophobic Tweets

US metalcore outfit For Today are not ones to hide their faith. Part of the band’s charm was their open and honest views on religion, though the group’s guitarist has taken things one step too far, prompting backlash from many of the group’s loyal followers.

Mike Reynolds took to Twitter to voice his disapproval of homosexuality, beginning the Twitter rant by stating, “Don’t be deceived, homosexuality is a sin”. He continued to say, “This sin with all other sins is what Jesus died for. He conquered so that we would be free”. This is a highly offensive statement in this day and age where our differences are not just tolerated, but celebrated.

Reynolds continued to say that there is “no such thing as a gay Christian, the same as there is no such thing as a Christian who loves his sin”.

Fans and fellow bands alike berated the musician for his views, though the band were quick to step in and retract his claims, taking to Facebook to say, “For Today has always and will always be a band that is about loving people, we have no hatred towards any people regardless of what they believe or how they live. We may not agree on everything but Jesus loves you and died for you. And so would we.

Blessings, For Today”
