Harvest Festival will be returning for 2012 after the positive response it had last year that saw the Melbourne event sell out. Brought to you by the guys behind Soundwave, this festival aims to bring a typical European festival lineup to our shores, but without the filler acts we’ve all seen a thousand times.
This year’s event will take place between the 10th and 18th of November, and will visit Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
Update 14/06/2012: Harvest Festival 2012 Lineup is here
Last year we saw bands such as Portishead, who returned to our shores after a 14-year absence, along with a band no one should ever miss when they come out here – The Flaming Lips. Joining them were TV on the Radio, Mogwai and The National. Questions as to who will be coming out for this year’s event have sparked some rumours already, with Icelandic ambient group Sigur Ros, and Canadian synth-pop artist Grimes likely to be on the list.
We should expect the lineup sometime around the end of May.
@mynameisaldo can’t put an exact date on it as of yet, but we’re hoping for late May.

The festival will have an arts programme, just like last year that saw over 400 artists participate across the three cities. Two unique virtual experiences were a part of that, which involved an interactive augmented reality art installation accessible via smartphones (iPhone, Android, Blackberry and Nokia). Inspired by notions of harvest, you could see animated 3D vegetables float around the festival site, expressing their emotions upon audience interaction.
