Janelle Monae Kimbra Australian Tour Cancelled

The troubled Golden Electric co-headline tour featuring US R&B sensation Janelle Monae and New Zealand songstress Kimbra has been officially cancelled due to Monae’s continuing illness, which saw her Melbourne performance at The Forum cancelled minutes before she was to take stage.

A complete statement including refund information for ticket-holders is expected to be released by promoter Live Nation tomorrow. The promoter has confirmed that all of the remaining dates of the Golden Electric tour have been cancelled and that there will be no rescheduled performances.

Yesterday, Sydney fans were disappointed after Live Nation announced that Monae’s continuing illness saw her remain in Melbourne, forcing what was at the time a postponement of her performance the Sydney Opera House. At the time, punters were urged to hold on to their tickets.

Live Nation did not offer any update on Monae’s condition, attributing the cancellation to “continuing illness.” The cancellation of the Forum show was announced by her band, who according to Music Feeds photographer Samantha Thomson, gave no indication that Monae had been hospitalised.
