Jimi Hendrix fans have been treated to the news that a new album of never-before-heard Hendrix material is due out next year. As reported by Rolling Stone, People, Hell and Angels will consist of 12 previously unreleased tracks and is scheduled to hit shelves Tuesday, March 5, 2013.
Reportedly, the songs that will make up People, Hell and Angels were in consideration by Hendrix to feature on First Rays of the New Rising Sun, the unreleased follow-up to Hendrix final studio album, 1968’s Electric Ladyland.
People, Hell and Angels is set to see a new direction for Hendrix, with the legendary musician experimenting with “horns, keyboards, percussion and a second guitar.”
In other Hendrix news, a biopic titled All Is By My Side is also due out in 2013. The film is based on Hendrix’s pre-fame years and will see OutKast memeber Andre 3000 playing the role of Hendrix. However, the film will not feature any of Hendrix’s original music.
