Joey Jordison: “I Did Not Quit Slipknot”

It seems the seemingly amicable split between masked nu-metal giants Slipknot and their longtime drummer and key songwriter Joey Jordison was not as amicable as once thought, with the artist himself issuing his first statement via Facebook in which he declares: “I did not quit Slipknot.”

News of Jordison’s departure came as a shock to fans of the heavy metal stalwarts, who have been tight-lipped about the details of the drummer’s egress, merely citing “personal reasons” for the parting of ways. Frontman Corey Taylor recently assured fans the band was in good shape.

“To my fans, friends, and associates,” Jordison begins in the post, in which he emphatically quells any rumours. “I would like to start the New Year by addressing the recent rumors and speculation regarding my departure from Slipknot. I want to make it very clear that I DID NOT QUIT SLIPKNOT.”

“This band has been my life for the last 18 years, and I would never abandon it, or my fans,” he adds. “This news has shocked and blindsided me as much as it has all of you. While there is much I would like to say, I must remain silent to further details at this time.” See the full statement below.
