It’s a big moment for King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard and their fans right now, with the band but also firing off the first warning shot for their forthcoming album, a tasty number titled 30 Past 7, as well as dropping a cheeky run of headlining shows kicking off towards the end of August.
For the first time since starting the project, King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard are ready to confirm that their brand-new album Float Along – Fill Your Lungs will be released on Friday, 27th September and will see the return of the band’s signature psychedelic haze, as is evident in the first single 30 Past 7. The track has been given the full service this week, being released with its own video clip – an acid trip designed by artist Jason Galea.
Galea opened up about the concept behind the video, explaining that it might be more relatable than you first think. “I tried to make it feel like it does when you’ve got to wake up at 7:30am and go to a 9 to 5 job… you fall asleep and start dreaming then the snooze goes off,” says Galea of the video. “The baseball bats scene is kind of like dreaming about fighting your boss… It ends with the person going crazy from the 9-to-5 crunch.”
In the weeks before the album launch, King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard will be hitting the road for a run of shows that’s sure to have fans pining for the release. Check out dates below the clip.
