Lady Gaga Announces New Album ‘Joanne’ Feat. Kevin Parker, Josh Homme & More

Lady Gaga‘s finally dished the dirt on her forthcoming new album, and it’s the straight-up musical super-orgy we always knew it would be.

Dubbed Joanne after her late aunt, the follow-up to Gaga’s 2013 LP ARTPOP is packing collabs with Tame Impala’s Kevin ParkerMark Ronson, Queens Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme, Bloodpop, Father John Misty, Florence Welch of Florence + The Machine, Beck and Nashville songwriter Hillary Lindsey (whose epic CV includes Shakira, Bon Jovi, Taylor Swift and more).

Mother Monster made the big announcement on Apple Music’s Beats 1 radio show, revealing that she was still in the studio and hoped to have the LP done and dusted within the next 48 hours.

The pop phenom also got sentimental chatting about the album’s namesake, whose death from lupus at age 19 left a lasting wound on her family. Gaga’s middle name is also Joanne, and she has called the album’s title track “the true heart and soul of the record”.

Gaga also gave us the lowdown on a few more key tracks off Joanne, including a song called John Wayne which features Homme on guitar and explores “my incessant need to run after wild men and somehow I get bored of the same old John”.

Another tune called Sinner’s Prayer features Father John Misty. “This song is about singing to a man just telling him, ‘Look I just don’t want to break the heart of any other man but you, but I know that I’m a sinner’,” Gaga says.

It comes after the singer previously announced a duet with Florence Welch, and dropped flagship single Perfect Illusion, which was produced by a musical megasquad including Australia’s own Gaga-certified musical genius Kevin Parker, plus Mark Ronson and Bloodpop (whose credits also include Justin Bieber’s Sorry) with Homme once again laying down some guitar lines.

Gaga also teased some Bollywood influences on the new record, as well as some country & western leanings.

Joanne will be released on Friday, 21st October. Listen to Gaga’s Beats 1 interview and re-blast the album’s dance-rockin’ first single Perfect Illusion, below.
