Lady Gaga Tops Forbes’ Most Powerful Musicians List

Pop superstar Lady Gaga has topped the annual Forbes Most Powerful Musicians list for 2013, beating fellow Americans Beyoncé and Madonna to the top spot, which is based on earnings, social media and press mentions.

The Poker Face singer muscled her way to the number 1 position with the $80 million she earned this financial year, despite having to cancel her Born This Way tour part way through thanks to a hip injury. Gaga also has 38 million Twitter followers and 58 million fans on Facebook, adding to her influence, and is second only to Oprah in the overall Most Powerful Celebrities list.

Beyoncé took out second place, earning $2 million per show for her Mrs Carter world tour, as well as having lucrative deals with Pepsi and H&M. Madonna placed in 3, earning more than Gaga and Bey but not ranking as highly in press mentions or social media. Taylor Swift and Bon Jovi rounded out the top 5 and Coldplay were the only UK artists to crack the list.

Lady Gaga is expected to release her third studio album ARTPOP later this year. Check out the complete Forbes Most Powerful Musicians list below.
