Listen To Lana Del Rey Covering Daniel Johnston’s ‘Some Things Last A Long Time’

Earlier today, news broke of cult indie-rock pioneer Daniel Johnston‘s death. The lo-fi singer/songwriter suffered a heart attack. He was 58.

In 2015, a short film was released called Hi How Are You Daniel Johnston? that starred Johnston himself. He also provided the original score for the short film that featured orchestral versions of his songs.

The psychedelic short film detailed the story of an ageing artist coming to terms with his dreams of his past. In it, he revisits 1983, a seminal year for him as an artist that saw the release of his legendary record, Hi How Are You?

Lana Del Rey provided a cover of Johnston’s ‘Some Things Last A Long Time’ for the film to use, and true to both of their styles, she wholeheartedly captured the essence of Johnston’s vocal style with some of the  inflexions whilst still making it her own.

Listen to Lana Del Rey’s cover and watch the short film below.
