Lostprophets Vocalist To Remain In Custody Over Child Sex Offenses

NME has reported that Lostprophets’ vocalist Ian Watkins has been remanded in custody until March 2013 over alleged child sex offenses. Watkins appeared via video link beside his two female co-conspirators for charges that include planning the rape of a one-year-old baby.

The 35-year-old appeared at Cardiff Crown Court from Parc Prison, Bridgend, alongside the 20 and 24-year-old women from the Doncaster and Bedford areas. The hearing only lasted 10 minutes, with Watkins appearing just to state his name. All three defendants will remain in custody until a plea and case management hearing set for March 11.

Along with conspiracy to rape a one-year-old baby, Watkins has also been charged with two incidents of conspiring to engage in sexual touching with two young children, as well as four offences relating to making, possessing and distributing indecent images of children.

Since his arrest earlier this month, the remaining band members have distanced themselves from the incident after releasing a brief statement on the band’s website.
