After dropping one of the most impressive lineups ever to hit Queensland’s Sunshine Coast like it ain’t no thang, the Maroochy Music & Visual Arts Festival is now ballooning out with even more amazing local musos and visual artists on its 2016 roster.
Sadly, they’ve also said goodbye to one of the previously announced acts on their lineup, with Boo Seeka having to withdraw from the festival due to US tour commitments.
But dry those tears because MMVAF’s new announcement is definitely one to warm the hearts of any triple j fans out there.
Topping the list of new additions are j Unearthed High alumni Japanese Wallpaper, Splendour 2016 Unearthed winner Alex Lahey (who is just fkn everywhere right now – she’ll be headlining MMVAF’s beloved Champagne & Oyster Garden) and triple j’s own Tom Tilley, who’ll be headlining the festival’s Ghetto Blaster Stage with 14 other DJs including legendary Brooklyn scratch DJ Total Eclipse.
They join a fat stack of previously announced local heavyweights, including Matt Corby, Peking Duk, Allday, George Maple, Client Liaison, City Calm Down, Ngaiire, Boo Seeka, Bad//Dreems, Vera Blue, Pop Cult & more.
The allstar bill of triple j faves will hit the stages at Maroochydore’s Old Horton Park Golf Course on Saturday, 10th September.
And putting the “VA” in MMVAF, promoters have once again dished up a feast for the eyes, adding Chinese street artist Ochid and locals Zoe Porter, Gimiks Born & Thom Stuart to this year’s visual arts programme.
Finally, dishing up the goods (literally) will be 2016 Masterchef runner up Matt Sinclair, who’ll be taking the festival’s food offerings to delicious new heights, alongside everything from wood fired pizza to latin street food experts.
