Megadeth Leak New Soundwave 2014 Bands And Metal Stage Lineup

US metal band Megadeth, named as part of the first Soundwave 2014 lineup announcement today, may have jumped the gun and leaked details of bands intended to be named as part of the second lineup announcement, which is supposedly coming in October, as well as the lineup for much vaunted Metal Stage.

On the tour dates section of the band’s official website, Megadeth – fronted by ex-Metallica guitarist Dave Mustaine – have posted what seems to be the lineup for the Metal Stage, which includes bands not seen on today’s announcement.

The list places Megadeth, Trivium, Phil Anselmo’s Down and Gwar in the top four slots for the Metal Stage, while the new bands – Swedish death metallers Entombed, Chicago’s SOiL and Mudvayne spin-off Hellyeah – sit in the bottom half of the lineup.

The full Metal Stage lineup as shown on Megadeth’s site is as follows: Megadeth, Trivium, Down, Gwar, Newsted, Amon Amarth, Baroness, Entombed, Ill Nino, Mushroomhead, Volbeat, SOiL and Hellyeah.

UPDATE: Soundwave promoter AJ Maddah has commented on the lineup posted on Megadeth’s website, saying that Hellyeah are definitely NOT part of of next year’s Soundwave, without addressing Entombed and SOiL’s inclusion. He says that the list is an “old proposed line-up”, so we might just have to wait for further information regarding the Metal Stage after all.

This latest leak also reveals that nu-metallers Korn, also announced as part of today’s Soundwave lineup, won’t be taking part in the Metal Stage lineup, which means it’s possible they will headline their own stage elsewhere in the festival.

It seems ex-members of Metallica just don’t know how to keep their yaps clamped when it comes to revealing details about the Soundwave 2014 lineup. Ex-Metallica bassist Jason Newsted let the cat out of the bag earlier in the month about his new project, Newsted, being involved in next year’s lineup.

With the revelation of three new bands on the lineup, just 17 names out of a likely 20 are left to be revealed for the second lineup announcement, due some time in October according to promoter AJ Maddah. Check out the screengrab below – the lineup is sure to be removed from Megadeth’s site once word gets out.
