New Korn Album To Feature Slipknot’s Corey Taylor

Korn‘s upcoming 12th album will feature a guest spot from Slipknot’s ruthless frontman Corey Taylor, Korn guitarist James ‘Munky’ Shaffer has revealed.

Speaking with Metal Hammer, Munky says Taylor gives it everything on his vocal guest spot, which is set to appear on the follow-up to 2013’s The Paradigm Shift.

“We have Corey singing on one track and it’s going to be a fan favourite because he really lets loose,” Munky says.

Korn were joined by members of Slipknot during a performance in London last year, for an explosive cover of the Beastie Boys classic Sabotage, so let’s just hope Corey’s collaborative track with the band doesn’t end up sounding corny, because, well, ‘Korn + Corey = Corny’, right?

Speaking about the as-yet-untitled new Korn album, Munky says it’s pretty damn heavy. “On a heaviness scale of one to 10 with 10 being the 1994 self-titled, this album is a definite nine,” he says.

Korn’s new album is expected to drop later this year, and Munky says the group are working like “a well-oiled machine” on the new project, especially since the return of guitarist Brian ‘Head’ Welch.

“When Head came back to us on the last record, it was our way of getting the wheels greased. Now everything is well-oiled and the machine works really well,” he says.

“When Head and I start writing riffs together, we have this endless stream of creativity – we’re like Korn’s yin and yang.”

While Korn’s new album will feature a guest appearance from Corey Taylor, it probably won’t see any vocals from US President Barack Obama, who last year confirmed he is “not the lead singer from Korn”.

Meanwhile, Korn frontman Jonathan Davis is still working with Marilyn Manson on that “southern-sounding” acoustic blues project of theirs.
