Nine Inch Nails, QOTSA Gross Over $500k For Single Australian Show

Nine Inch Nails and Queens of the Stone Age are set to continue their their rapturously received Australian co-headline tour at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena tonight and recent figures show it bodes well for their bank accounts, having made over $500,000 for a single Newcastle show.

Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme recently told Triple J that he would like to see more co-headline tours as they could serve as an alternative to festivals with bloated lineups and overpriced tickets while fostering solidarity, and it looks as though there’s a pecuniary incentive too.

Recent Boxscore data has Bruce Springsteen outgrossing every other touring artist in the world, bringing in over $10 million from two consecutive Auckland shows, but the highest grossing rockers were NIN, QOTSA, and Brody Dalle at 18, taking over $550,000 from their Newcastle show.

Imagine Dragons made the Top 20 with an Atlanta, Georgia performance for which they took in over $500,000, with Kings of Leon not far behind, grossing just under $450,000 for their Atlanta gig. Meanwhile, UK indie kings Arctic Monkeys raked in $65,000 for their sold-out Columbus, Ohio gig.
