OneFour Allegedly Banned From ARIA Awards Venue Following Tour Cancellation

Western Sydney drill rap group, OneFour were allegedly barred from entering the ARIA Awards venue on Wednesday, as reported by The Music.

According to The Music’s report, NSW Police confirmed they had “provided advice to the venue”.

The Daily Telegraph reported that the group’s management had said police visited “the homes of two band members to ban them from attending [the] ARIA Awards venue, and their local shopping centre, via exclusion orders”.

This comes after OneFour’s first-ever headline tour was axed this week, reportedly due to pressure from NSW Police. You can head here and here for a little bit more background on the story.

OneFour announced the cancellation of their tour via Instagram. “Our entire national tour has now been cancelled. Our fans have never caused any issue at our concerts. So why can’t you see us perform?

“Making and performing music is not a crime. And when they tell you you’ve got to make a better future for yourself why do they want to trap you in your past?”

“New single out in January. We’ll keep it moving forward. Much love to all the people who have stood up and shouted out their support.”

Triple j’s Hack obtained a letter sent to the Melbourne venue who were supposed to be hosting OneFour last week. Sent by Victoria Police, the letter said that the police held concern, “The concerns relate to OneFour’s affiliation with members of interstate gangs. These gangs have been involved in multiple shootings, stabbings, brawls and serious assaults in New South Wales.”

“Please be advised that if incidents of violence and disorder continue to occur at your premises after having been warned of these concerns, consideration will be given to making an application to the Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation to vary, suspend or cancel the licence.

“I am informed that interstate events involving this performer have been cancelled. I am respectfully requesting that you give due consideration and re-consider cancelling this event at your premises.”

OneFour are still set to play a sold out show in Auckland early next month.
