Opera House Respond To Sound Quality Criticism At Last Night’s Tame Impala Gig

The Sydney Opera House have responded to mounting criticism of the sound quality at last night’s Tame Impala show, after a number of concert attendees, including Sydney band Sticky Fingers took to social media today to slam the low volume levels.

An Opera House spokesperson has assured Music Feeds that the volume issues were recognised early in last night’s set at the Opera House Forecourt and fixed accordingly.

“Early in last night’s performance of Tame Impala we identified an issue with low sound levels; this was quickly addressed with the band, and levels were increased by the fourth song.”

The spokesperson also noted that venue operators will conduct further testing on the venue’s sound levels before the remaining gigs.

“We will be undertaking thorough testing of sound levels around all areas of the venue during tonight’s sound check and for all future Forecourt performances.”

Following last night’s show Sticky Fingers took to Facebook to criticise the “quiet” sound, writing that: “We might as well gone and spooned our grandmothers graves on the other side of the planet, silently jerking off, cuddling our teddy bears. Would have been louder.”

Other punters echoed this sentiment, with a few even tweeting at the Opera House to adjust the sound. The Opera House replied to one such tweet sent during the show with, “The sound has been turned up.”

Tame Impala are set to return to the stage for another show tonight. Chet Faker played to two sold out audiences over the weekend, while later this week Florence + The Machine will undertake four epic shows there.
