Legendary Australian troubadour Paul Kelly is taking the tunes from his highly anticipated album The Merri Soul Sessions on the road for a series of national tour dates in January and February 2015.
Kelly and his fellow Merri Soul Sessions collaborators – including Dan Sultan, Clairy Browne, Kira Puru, Vika Bull and Linda Bull as well as his long-serving touring band – will play both a series of summer festivals and solo headlining shows in 2015.
Things will kick off with a set at the Parramatta Opening Party of the Sydney Festival on Friday 9th January, before moving on to shows in Mossvale, Hobart, Scarborough Park, Tamworth, Brisbane, Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Darwin.
The Merri Soul Sessions is a collection of Kelly’s songs recorded live in the studio with assistance from guest singers and sees the Australian musician explore his affection for soul and gospel music. Paul Kelly and his collaborators will be supported on the road in 2015 at each gig from January 17th onwards by Grammy-nominated neo-soul four-piece Hiatus Kaiyote.
The Merri Soul Sessions, Paul Kelly’s 20th studio release, will be available for pre-order from Paul Kelly’s website from Friday October 31st with the official release date slotted for Friday December 12th.
