Paul McCartney’s Children’s Book ‘High in the Clouds’ To Become Animated Netflix Film

Were you aware that in 2005 former Beatle Paul McCartney released a children’s book entitled High in the Clouds?

Well if not, now you do – and there’s never been a better time, with the news that McCartney’s book will be adapted by French film production company Gaumont into an animated film for Netflix, with music penned by McCartney himself specifically for the film.

According to a statement, High in the Clouds tells the story of an “imaginative teenage squirrel named Wirral,” who “finds himself pulled into a ramshackle gang of teenage rebels who live high in the clouds after he accidentally antagonizes Gretsch the owl, the tyrannical leader (and fabulous singer!), who steals the voice of anyone who upstages her.”

The adaptation will be directed by Timothy Reckart, with a screenplay by Jon Croker.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with Netflix,” commented McCartney.

“They complement what is already an amazing team with Gaumont and we can think of no one better to be working with to bring our film to a global audience. I’ve always loved animated films and this is a hugely important passion project for me. I can’t wait for the world to see it.”

A release date has not yet been announced for the project.
