Del Rey has confirmed reports of a lawsuit against her and her songwriting team, taking to Twitter to say:
“It’s true about the lawsuit. Although I know my song wasn’t inspired by ‘Creep’, Radiohead feel it was and want 100% of the publishing – I offered up to 40 over the last few months but they will only accept 100.
“Their lawyers have been relentless, so we will deal with it in court.”
While Radiohead are yet to publicly comment on the lawsuit, similarities between the two songs are clear. Stream both tracks in full, below.
Radiohead were allegedly sued themselves shortly after releasing ‘Creep’, over similarities to the Hollies’ 1974 song ‘The Air That I Breathe’. After an out-of-court settlement, songwriters Albert Hammond and Mike Hazlewood were listed as co-writers on ‘Creep’.
Lana Del Rey is scheduled to tour Australia this year, as part of her first Aussie jaunt since 2012.
