RIP – DJ Ajax (Bang Gang) Dies After Being Hit By A Truck

Australian DJ, Ajax, real name Adrian Thomas, has reportedly died in an accident overnight. Thomas was a founding member of the Bang Gang crew who also started his own management and label, Sweat It Out, which included Rufus, Yolanda Be Cool and Parachute Youth amongst its names.

A message posted by Chinese Laundry, the Sydney venue where he was a resident DJ for 7 years, revealed the tragic news early this morning. TNT Magazine reports that the accident took place some time yesterday in Melbourne.

Chinese Laundry described Ajax as “a great friend to everyone” and “an amazing DJ that was always a crowd favourite”. He was also a regular name on most major music festival lineups including Parklife, Big Day Out, Stereosonic, We Love Sounds and Splendour in the Grass.

Ajax was known for his mixing skills and ability to produce fiery tunes, releasing several mixtapes which helped him get voted as one of Australia’s top 5 DJs every year since 2005. He also took out #1 spot on the inthemix awards in 2006 and 2007.

Update: SMH reports Ajax ran into the path of a truck in the early hours of Thursday morning. A Victoria Police spokesperson said, “It’s believed the man ran in front of the north-bound truck on College Crescent shortly before 1am. He died at the scene.”
