Scott Stapp’s Family Alleges He Threatened To Assassinate President Obama

The wife and sister-in-law of troubled Creed frontman Scott Stapp have attempted to place the singer in psychiatric care for a second time, alleging he claimed to be a trained CIA agent tasked with the assassination of President Obama.

According to 911 tapes obtained by TMZ, which you can hear below, a woman believed to be Jaclyn Stapp’s sister claims her brother-in-law is “ill” and is “just out of a mental facility”. She says while he is “off the drugs” he is riding shirtless on a bike around his neighborhood, carrying two backpacks containing “CIA documents” and some tools, including a wrench, screwdriver and a hard drive.

TMZ say Jaclyn Stapp later joins the phone conversation and details her husband’s previous stints in rehab, his paranoid schizophrenia and his attempts to “self-medicate”. “I love him, and I want to see him get better,” she says towards the end of the clip. “But I just need law enforcement’s help. That’s the only way he’s gonna stop. When he hits his rock bottom.”

According to TMZ, Scott Stapp later placed his own 911 call, saying his wife had stolen his truck and reportedly told the police that Jaclyn had stolen $6 million from him. They also report that Stapp was not committed following the incident.

Late last month, Stapp posted a video to the Creed Facebook page titled “Scott Stapp of Creed, Public Statement #1″ where he speaks to camera recounting a series of events which he says have left him “completely penniless”, claiming that the IRS has frozen his bank and that he sometimes goes days without food.

It was later reported he had previously been put on a 72-hour psychiatric hold by police and that his wife of eight years recently filed for divorce and provided text messages she says she received from the singer while he was on an alleged drug binge.

Recently, it was reported that the Creed frontman is now attempting to crowdfund USD$480,000 to help him record a new solo album and release a debut fiction novel, after a Fundly campaign appeared on the Creed Facebook page.

Some of Stapp’s other family and friends, including his son Jagger as well as Creed bassist Brian Marshall and guitarist Mark Tremonti, have reportedly shared their concerns about Scott Stapp’s welfare.
