Slipknot Drummer Says Work On New Album Has Begun

New music coming from the Beethovens of metal Slipknot has been teased in the last few months, and now drummer Joey Jordison has confirmed that not only is a new album in the making but work on it has already commenced.

Currently doing the press rounds to promote the self-titled debut album from his latest project Scar The Martyr, Jordison spoke to Music Feeds and gave us a brief Slipknot update, saying the band have started the writing process for the new album and songs are already written.

Jordison explained that the new album is slowly but surely coming along, with band members at the stage we they’re happy to exchange material:

“There is material written. We’re exchanging songs right now and that’s as far as it is. Will there be another Slipknot record? Absolutely. So that’s all I can tell ya. There will be another Slipknot record but good things go to those who wait…

“I’ve always got a guitar in my hand, dude, so there’s songs.”

Both frontman Corey Taylor and percussionist Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan has previously said that a new album is on the way, with Clown stating that that the album will be coming next year.

Crahan earlier revealed in a separate interview that Slipknot were not in a good place emotionally to begin work on a new record following the death of bassist Paul Gray, so it seems like the band is finally on the mend.

The album will be the first release from Slipknot since last year’s Antennas To Hell compilation, and the first original material since 2008’s All Hope Is Gone.

The full interview with Jordison on the world of Scar The Martyr will be on Music Feeds shortly. Stay tuned.
