Slipknot just keep ’em coming. The band have unveiled the third in a series of mysterious teaser clips that have been popping up on their various social media channels without explanation from band members. Like the second, this one also has a caption: “The Cystic/Symbolic/Condition.”
The band, who are gearing up to release their highly anticipated fifth studio album, began sharing the clips last week. The first, which arrived Wednesday, came bundled with a new welcome page on the band’s website and several new images, including a new version of their nonagram.
Fans are currently in the dark on just what the clips are connected to, though many have assumed they are leading to an official album announcement or a new single. Frontman Corey Taylor revealed earlier this month that not only is the new album “98 percent” completed, but that there would a “big announcement soon,” saying they would begin to unveil “just little stuff here and there.”
According to Blabbermouth, Taylor elaborated on the process behind the album, which is the band’s first without late bassist Paul Gray and former drummer Joey Jordison, in a recent interview. “It was interesting,” he said. “We knew it was gonna be heavy. We knew it was gonna be one of those things where it’s like, ‘Okay, we’re in uncharted territory right now, so what do we do?'”
“And Jim [Root, guitarist] and Clown [Shawn Crahan, percussionist] really stepped up,” he continued. “You know, they kind of started leading the charge and really getting stuff together. So by the time we really got into the studio, we had a really great template of music to check out.”
